After arrival, on the same day or on the next working day you have to go to our International Admission Office for:
- Registration at Federal Migration Service of Russia (you do not visit FMS in person, it is enough to bring all the required documents to us). Please, do not forget your pass (original) and migration card (will be issued to you after crossing the border of the Russian Federation), 1 photo 3×4 cm size (white background; colored or black-white).
- Prolongation of your visa (normally it takes about a month, so it is better to start the process as soon as possible after arrival)
- Buying the health insurance for the whole period of study in Russia (if you have already bought a health insurance while applying for a study visa in Russia, you do not need to buy it again after arrival). Its price depends on the duration of your stay in St. Petersburg, so you will get all the necessary information (e.g. for 6 months it costs about 2800 Rub., for the whole academic year – about 5200 Rub.).
If you want to visit other cities of Russia or to go abroad during your mobility period, please inform in advance International Admission Office in person or per e-mail. Please note, that you first get one-entry visa, so you cannot leave Russia before you get the prolonged (multy-entry) visa.
If you want to visit other cities of Russia during your mobility for more than 1 day (so you stay in a hotel in another city), please note that you will get a new registration in this city (made by the hotel where you stay), because the hotels (as well as hospitals) are obliged to register foreigners after arrival. So your registration in St. Petersburg will be automatically cancelled. That is why you have to go to International Admission Office within 24 hours after return to St. Petersburg to get a new registration in St. Petersburg (please bring your hotel’s registration or hospital’s registration if you were in a hospital, even if this hospital is situated in St. Petersburg). The same situation is if you live in our dormitory, but want to stay in a hotel in St. Petersburg for several days (for example, your parents or friends come to visit you during your study in St. Petersburg and you want to stay with them in a hotel). This hotel will give you a new registration in St. Petersburg, so after coming back to the dormitory please go to International Admission Office within 24 hours and bring your hotel’s registration.
If you have lost your documents (pass, migration card, etc.) please contact International Students’ Admission Office as soon as possible!
